Labor Day in September has come after a brutally hot, dry summer in the States. At last we've reached the unofficial start of Fall!

We have been extremely productive this summer at Indie Graphic Novels. In less than a year's time, we've added over 300 new members, affiliated with 30 other comic and art related Deviant Art groups and promoted independent and self-published titles such as Sparko by Karl Stephan an inspired fantasy graphic novel that takes place in London, Planetoid by Ken Garing a comic series just picked up by Image and the early work from Shadows Of Oblivion series by Shawn "Shono" McCauley. Please see Book News for more new indie titles.

It is safe to say that we are currently going through an explosive period of growth! Thank you to all the active members who have posted their sample pages, illustrations, covers and character sheets to this group. The world is very, very interested in what you are doing.

There's a lot of news so - let's get to it.

Many thanks to the Kubert School, in Dover, New Jersey, for joining us. Please accept our condolences on the recent passing of your school's founder and namesake, Mr. Joe Kubert (Two-Fisted Tales, Sgt. Rock, Tarzan) whose contributions to the fields of comics, art and story-telling have left a lasting impression with millions of people across the world.

Special thanks to Canadian comic artist and publisher Jonathon Rector for joining up with us. Mr. Rector is an exciting young artist that is currently bringing his formidable skills to bear on an original title called Jesop King. In addition to being an artist, Mr. Rector has several technique demos available on Youtube demonstrating digital character creation.

New Indie Comic And Book News
WALK, a new graphic novel by Italian artist and longtime Heavy Metal artist Mr. Stefano Cardoselli and his Azurek Studios reached its funding goal in August and exceeded it by $500 USD! Mr. Cardoselli is an amazing illustrator and a dynamic artist – fans of Ralph Ellison, Simon Bisley and James Stokoe will immediately be fans of his work. To read more about his book and unique style please see the Cardoselli interview at The Blob Shack.

Princess Lucinda a book with artwork from #IGN member Abby Soto reached it's of funding goal plus $3,100 USD. Congratulations to her team for this amazing success! The Lucinda team is gearing up for another book in the series so check-in with them.

PURG a web comic by Canadian artist J2040 is gearing up for it's 3rd on-line edition. The line art for the book, as seen in the production art, is immaculate and organic. The new line work is really amazing – utilizing old school "seamless" inking techniques in a digital application…Watch out for this kid!
